Community Living Board Certified Behavior Analyst

Description JOB TITLE: Board Certified Behavior Analyst/ Licensed Behavior Analyst (BCBA/LBA) DIVISION: Community Living REPORTS TO: Lead BCBA SUPERVISES: RBTs, Behavior Specialists EXEMPTION STATUS: Exempt POSITION SUMMARY: The BCBA/LBA is responsible for the design, implementation, and oversight of all behavioral and skill acquisition programming within Community Living residential settings. This role ensures that Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services are clinically sound, consistently implemented, and aligned with BACB standards, Missouri LBA regulations, and BHA policies. The BCBA/LBA operates within a residential service delivery model, where interventions are implemented primarily by Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). As such, this role has a critical responsibility for staff training, coaching, and ensuring fidelity of implementation across all environments and shifts. The BCBA/LBA is accountable for ensuring that individuals receive effective, data-driven, and person-centered behavioral supports that improve safety, independence, and quality of life. QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience • Master’s or Doctoral degree in ABA, Psychology, Special Education, or related field • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) required • Active state licensure (MO and/or KS as applicable) • Completion of BACB 8-hour supervision training • Minimum 2 years experience in ABA services • Experience in residential or intensive behavioral settings preferred Skills & Competencies • Valid driver’s license meeting transportation requirements (Missouri Class E, out-of-state equivalent, or CDL with Passenger/School Bus endorsement). • Strong clinical leadership and team development skills • Expertise in ABA, BSP development, and behavior reduction strategies • Ability to analyze and act on clinical and operational data • High accountability and ownership mindset • Ability to collaborate across disciplines (operations, nursing, compliance) • Strong communication and coaching skills • Ability to manage multiple priorities and systems simultaneously • Innovative problem-solver who challenges outdated practices • Ability to lead calmly and decisively in high-pressure situations • Emotional resilience and professionalism in high-pressure situations • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities • Knowledge of crisis management, safety, and compliance standards • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operational data management systems KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Dignity First • Ensures all behavioral interventions protect dignity, safety, and rights • Utilizes least restrictive, trauma-informed practices • Ensures individuals are treated with respect across all environments Person-Centered Living • Develops individualized BSPs and skill acquisition programs • Ensures programming aligns with each individual’s needs, goals, and preferences • Promotes autonomy and meaningful outcomes Connected Community • Ensures behavioral supports promote community integration and engagement • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to provide cohesive supports • Supports development of socially significant behaviors Whole-Person Support • Integrates behavioral, environmental, and medical considerations • Collaborates with nursing and operations to ensure comprehensive care • Monitors behavior trends and adjusts interventions proactively Empowerment Through Daily Life • Embeds skill acquisition into daily routines and environments • Designs programming that promotes independence and functional skills • Ensures learning occurs in natural environments Integrity in Action • Ensures all documentation, assessments, and plans meet BACB and MO LBA standards • Maintains compliance with ethical and regulatory requirements • Uses data to drive clinical decision-making Collaborative Teamwork • Works closely with Operations, Nursing, and Direct Care staff • Provides clear communication and expectations across teams • Participates in interdisciplinary meetings and planning Consistency and Compassion • Ensures consistent implementation of BSPs across all staff and shifts • Monitors fidelity and addresses gaps immediately • Supports staff in managing complex behaviors effectively CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES • Conduct functional behavior assessments (FBAs) • Develop and update BSPs and skill acquisition programs • Analyze behavioral data and adjust programming accordingly • Ensure interventions are evidence-based and effective • Monitor client progress and outcomes • Participate in crisis response planning and support STAFF TRAINING & FIDELITY • Train DSPs and RBTs on BSP implementation, prompting, reinforcement, and behavior reduction strategies • Provide hands-on modeling and coaching within residential environments • Ensure staff competency in implementing programming • Conduct fidelity checks and provide corrective feedback • Develop training materials and support systems • Ensure consistency of implementation across all shifts and staff BACB & MO LBA COMPLIANCE • Provide supervision to RBTs and other staff per BACB requirements • Ensure supervision requirements (e.g., 5% RBT supervision) are met • Maintain all documentation required by BACB and MO LBA • Adhere to BACB Ethics Code • Ensure all services are within scope of competence • Maintain active certification and licensure QUALITY ASSURANCE & DATA OVERSIGHT • Monitor clinical outcomes and performance metrics • Identify trends and implement improvements • Ensure accurate and timely data collection • Conduct program reviews and audits • Participate in incident review and analysis On-Call & 24/7 Leadership • Participate in on-call rotation and provide decisive leadership during crises • Serve as a calm, directive presence during high-pressure situations ACCOUNTABILITY & IMPACT The BCBA/LBA is directly accountable for the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of behavioral services within Community Living. This role is responsible for ensuring: • BSPs and programs are clinically sound and individualized • Staff are trained and implementing programming with fidelity • Data is accurate and used to drive decisions • Behavioral supports are consistent across environments • Individuals demonstrate measurable progress The BCBA/LBA is expected to actively train, coach, and ensure implementation, not simply write plans or provide recommendations. Failure to meet these expectations may result in corrective action, as clinical performance directly impacts safety, outcomes, and regulatory compliance.
